Usually the first thing you notice when entering a home or offices is the staircase. First impressions speak volumes….
We manufacture and install the best quality staircases both in the trade and domestic marketplace, offering a wide range of timbers including oak, sapele, maple, beech and walnut. All of these are excellent materials for solid hardwood staircases.
Stairs are described by configuration and construction style. They are simple in design and can be straight-cut string, straight-closed or straight-open riser. They can be winding or have landings and be cut or closed string or open riser.
All you need to do is to simply supply a sketch showing your floor plans with your full stair height and style of staircase.
If you are not sure of your requirements we will conduct a site visit to help you decide. We can then give you a budget estimate followed by a full site survey, then a firm quotation will be supplied thereafter. We will help you with professional advice on design and can liaise with your builder or architect.
We will ensure that you will be 100% satisfied with your timber staircase and bespoke joinery designed and crafted by us.
We are a specialist bespoke timber staircase manufacturer
We can mix glass stairs and metal stair parts with any timber, so you can design your staircase with freedom. Glass and timber handrails or turned balustrades and stainless steel handrails are available – there are various combinations to suit your taste.
Open riser staircases are a contemporary and popular design where the riser on each tread is reduced enabling light to shine through. In the interest of child safety the open riser is restricted to a 100mm maximum gap achieved by a half riser or a tasteful steel bar.
Open riser stairs are particularly effective when next to a large expanse of glass windows.
Cut string flights look spectacular in a large space like a hallway and are a highly decorative staircase showing off the shape of each tread and beautifully hand turned spindles. They are usually polished and have either polished treads or carpet runners up the centre.
Grainwood joinery can:
- Manufacture staircases for the general public and the trade.
- Provide on-site surveys – as no two staircases are the same.
- Repair and renovate existing staircases or reinstate part or whole staircases that have been removed in the past.
